Strange things are afoot in the Washington Kennewick mission that is all I have to stay. I see you have found out the news… Yes the mission is going to be split. The boundaries have not been put out yet but President will let us know when they do. We found this out this last week on Thursday! Elder McCleve and I were freaking out to say the least. One of the blessings of serving in a 4 way companionship with the APs is that you get to find out even more information about things. So the way they are going to decide who ends up in what mission is on July 1 when the new mission president comes in. Whoever is in the Vancouver Washington mission boundries will now be part of the WVM. Its crazy. It will all be inspired because we all know that President Greer is inspired and he will know where we need to go. So we will find out around that time what mission we will be in. The new mission president for the WVM is President Taylor. I don’t know much about him but we know he is going to be great. I sent you info about our new mission president that President Greer sent us today in an email.
So this week has also been so crazy because we got transfer calls on Saturday. We are receiving 30 new missionaries this week so there has been so much moving and changing going around. To start with we are losing one of the assistants. He is going home and so now we have a new one. Elder Dreager. I love Elder Dreager and I know he will do great. I am excited to work with him. We also have added a new zone. They have now made the Dalls Oregon into its own zone. Its crazy. We were at a baptism with our investigators last Saturday morning and President and Sister Greer were there. Right before they left President looked around and said well, its looks like I will have to call all of you in this room later today. So we were all worried because its always scary when President says that. You know assignments are going out. Later that day we get a text form President and he asked if Elder McCleve could call him asap. So after our appointment he gave him a call and it happened — he had been assigned to be a zone leader! I called it. I knew it was going to happen because he is such an amazing missionary. So that means I am getting a new companion. Elder Westover will be my new companion. Information will come when he gets into the area and we get to know each other a little more. What I do know about him is that he was out, then had to go back home for hip surgery and now he is back out. I hope he likes being in a car area again.
That’s not even all. We have a baptism this Saturday!! Dylin and Taylor! They were interviewed on Saturday and they are now ready to go. We could not be more excited. We are a little sad though because Elder McCleve will be missing the baptism. I don’t want him to leave because we were getting a lot of work done and having a lot of fun doing it. We saw a miracle last night. We were tracting about a week ago and we ran into this man by the name of Manuel. He said he was busy that night but we could come back next week and come a see him. So last night we did just that. Right when we were walking over to his house we see him drive up to his house. So we go and talk to him and he lets us in. We start talking to him and his girlfriend/wife (we don’t know what they are yet) was there. We talked to both of them. Come to find out that his dad and aunt are members and that a few days before we knocked on the door he was praying because he wanted to know the truth. He said that he wanted to know which church was right. Half of his family are members and the rest are Catholic. His girlfriend/wife, earlier in the day when we knocked, was saying that she wanted to start going to church. Later that night we knocked on the door and Manuel answered. We gave him a card and told him we would come back and left. He then walked over to her and said, here you go, handing her the card, and then said you wanted to go to church… It was awesome. We taught them about the Book of Mormon and how it will help them in so many ways to find the truth. We are going back to see then this Sunday. We are so excited to see them progress.
I have been thinking a lot about the blessings we have. Yesterday at the many hours of church we have I was thinking about prayer. We are all so blessed to know that Heavenly Father really does hear our prayers and he does answer them. We all just need to learn how to listen to his answers and follow them. I love our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that he lives and loves us all. He gave up his life willingly for us so that we all could return to live with him again. I know this to be true.
To answer your questions. I am warm. I don’t need you to send me anything. I am eating a lot but running to keep all the weight off. I might be needing to buy a gps if Elder Westover does not have one so if you see some money taken from my account you know why ha.
Love Elder Hansen
