Well things here in Washington are ramping up for some miracles I can tell you that right now!!!!
So the other day we had a roller coaster type day! We spent most of the day finding people to teach from former investigators to part member families and also some less active families. We were excited for the awesome line up that night of some of our strong progressing investigators. About an hour before we were about to head to dinner, it felt like within a 5 minute time period, all of the appointments we had fell through. We were crushed. Canceling appointments is a missionaries worst nightmare. We were upset and didn’t know what to do. I then got a thought that has changed my view of dropped appointments. The thought was this. The Lord knows we don’t need to see them right now, The question is who do we really need to see at this time. So after dinner we stopped by the church real quick to use the bathroom and I had a thought to go and see a family that we had been teaching, but they had slown way down in their progression and we were thinking about dropping them. So I asked Elder Crewse what he thought about going and seeing them and he said ,”yeah let’s do it.” Not knowing what we were going to teach them or how we could really help them we said a prayer and knocked on their door. They let us in and seemed very excited to see us again. The best part was that they were all home! So we started doing some “check your progress and understanding” questions and to see if they were even committed and wanted to do the things we taught them. Them Bertha, the wife, said that she loved it when we came over. She always seemed the most receptive to what we were teaching. She had not had any religious background at all. So we have been teaching her little by little each day and she has progressed a lot. She now knows how much prayer has helped her in her life. They said that they loved us coming over. We then talked about how much this gospel blesses families and how much God really does love you. We them showed the family a video about the Doctrine of Christ and how a family, The Robles Family, were blessed by it. While we were watching the video I had a thought that we needed to put them on date for baptism after this is done. I was shocked by this but said to myself that if that was what you wanted us to do, what date should it be. Then I felt like the 25th of this month would be the best for them. So after the movie was over I we asked how they felt and what they thought. J.R., the 14 year old son, said that he wanted to do what they just did! It couldn’t of been more perfect! We then invited the whole family to be baptized on 25 of this month and they accepted. They are a little worried but I know they will be ready for that day.
Miracles really do happen every single day. I know that with all my heart. One thing I am grateful for is the fact that I know God is our loving Heavenly Father. The other day we were teaching a man about the Plan of Salvation. He didn’t agree with what happens after we die. He did not feel like people should have a second chance to accept the gospel. He said that the Bible said that you either go to Heaven or Hell and that’s it. He asked why do we think everyone should have a second chance. I then had the thought to say because God truly loves each and every one of his children and He wants each of them to return back to live with him again. I know that to be true. Just that knowledge alone makes me feel so happy to be a part of this church. God is not an unforgiving God. He does not want any of us to suffer so he has given us his only Begotten Son to help us through this life.
So to answer your question about Mother’s Day. We will be able to Skype — or even Facetime because I know the Knights have some Ipads maybe they will let us use. That might be better then Skype who knows. I am not sure what time yet because of our 10 hours of church that we have. We will be able to give you a call the night before and let you know what time. It will be through Skype though. It will most likely be in the evening time because of all the things we have going on. That way we can all get through our meetings and get the important things done.
I really wish this time would slow down. I feel like there is never enough time in the day to get all of the work done. I know that we need to get this work done because the time is now for everyone to accept this gospel.
I am very proud of all the good choices we are making as a family. Abby good for you for following the spirit. It might not have felt like you were guided by the spirit, but sometimes Heavenly Father gives us what we call a yellow light which means that either choices would be good but he wants us to weigh our options and choose His way or the World’s way. Trust me. I took a class from the drama teacher and he is not good news at times. Just remember to keep close to the spirit and what we know to be true and you will never go wrong.
I cant believe Maddie is going to prom. I think Midget would have been the best prom date ever!!
I can’t believe Jeff is already graduating with one of his degrees! That went by fast. So I am assuming that he will then start working on his other one as well sometime soon?
We had a specialized training with President and Sister Greer earlier in the week and they talked about revelation through church attendance and it was amazing. We also had interviews and I was able to talk with him about so many different things. I love president — I am sad to see him go in just a few short months. Well I guess that’s all I have to say this week. I love you all and will talk to you Saturday night.
Elder Hansen W.K.M
Hello dad! Sorry I haven’t responded in a few weeks. I left more time to write to you as well. So it’s funny you asked about the interviews because earlier this morning I got a text form the Assistants asking if I could interview some of their investigators on Saturday. I was actually really nervous when I found out. I don’t know exactly what to do. Then a few seconds later I had the thought of this, just do what your dad would do when he interviews someone for baptism. The questions are the same. Just follow the spirit and you will be fine. So I have no need to fear at all. I will trust in the Lord and prepare myself for as much as I can for Saturday and everything will be fine. So thank you so much for the neckties! They are awesome and I have gotten a lot of complements from all of the leaders and people from the church in the wards I serve in. There are so many inspired men up here in Washington it’s out of control. They are also so awesome because they are all farmers and drive Ford Raptors everywhere. Every Sunday the church parking lot is full of them and you know that the Stake Presidency is here because I think each of them have one. It’s so funny. So I had an interview this last week with President Greer. It was amazing as always. We talked about the needs of the district, my new companion and other things. He asked me if I had any questions or anything like that. I told him that you had found out about my different leadership calls and gave me some advice to really study and understand D&C 121:34-46. Well I have been really pondering these words lately and we talked about how the power of the Priesthood will be distilled upon us like the dews from Heaven. We talked about how we learn these things line upon line. President then said something that I really thought you would like to know. He said, “Elder Hansen I really want to meet you Dad one day. He seems like a wise man”. I then realized that I don’t think I have ever been around him and not mentioned you one way or another. I remember the first time I met with him right as I got into the field I told him about the 2 rules you gave me. He loved it. P.S. I have been keeping those 2 rules you gave me and it has actually brought me such great faith. I love you dad. You are an awesome example to me. I think about you often. You are the best. I love you.
