This week, the family was able to talk with Spencer on Mother’s Day. He looked great, loves his mission, and is worried that time is going by too fast. He told us about his long church schedule every Sunday since he covers three wards. It involves a ward council meeting, then a sacrament meeting, then a second ward council meeting, then another sacrament meeting, a quick break for lunch, then one more sacrament meeting, and then Elder’s Quorum. It totals about 9 hours!
Spencer’s dad asked him if there is any advice he could give to the ward’s young men and women. He said that they need to open their mouthes and share the gospel.
We asked him which mission he thought he would end up in once his mission is split. He said he hopes he stays in Pasco, and we thought that meant he had cursed himself to not stay in Pasco 🙂 It will be interesting to see what happens! His mission will be split the first of July.
We also asked him when the last time was that he received revelation. His response was something like it’s a constant flow of revelations when you are serving the Lord. You just need to be willing to do what the Lord tells you to do and you will receive the revelation you need.
He told us a funny story about a lady who he and his companion help with yard work often. He said that they never seem to do it QUITE right. He said it was pretty funny.
It was a fun hour that went by too quickly! He challenged us to read 2 Nephi 31, which is his favorite chapter in the scriptures. He loves being a missionary and loves serving the Lord!
Here is the email he sent this Monday:
Ha those pictures of Ella are really funny. It was good to talk to you all. I really don’t have much to say this week. I love you all so much. We are all truly blessed to live in this great time in the church. I know that what we share is true. I know it with all my heart. I am so grateful for all the many things we are blessed with. Just remember that we are set on this earth at this time for a specific reason and that we must not forget it. Just remember to open your mouth and share the gospel!!
Love Elder Hansen
