Week 57

01 Oct

Well we had a temple trip today! That is why we didn’t get to email yesterday! I love the temple. I wish we could go a lot more on the mission. I guess that is something that I will get to do more of when the time comes. So it sounds like everyone is doing well in California. It sounds like Alison and Morgan are doing quite well and love spending time with their grandma… It’s kind of weird to say that.

So Washington is awesome. The weather is changing drastically and I don’t know how I feel about that. The leaves are falling and changing color and it looks like fall is officially here. The work is moving forward. We have been getting to know the new ward that was added to the area that we cover. It’s fun because they have had sister missionaries for a long time in that ward and now the elders are back everyone was very excited to meet us. They have lots of ideas and a great drive and desire to do missionary work.

We are very excited for the end of October and here is why. We received a voice-mail from president saying that on October 26 we will be having a member of the quorum of the twelve apostles coming to meet with us!!! We don’t know who it is yet, but the whole mission will be down here in Kennewick WA. I would love to see any of them to be honest. Some people are really wanting Elder Bednar or Elder Holland. We will see. We are all praying to prepare to sit at the feet of an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We had such an awesome week with our little visa waiter. His name is Elder Ogden and he was waiting for his visa to Denmark. He was 18 and is so prepared to share the gospel with the world. They came here last Tuesday and the next day they found out that they received their visa and they flew out this morning. It was fun to have language study. I picked up a little Danish which was awesome. It’s a very weird language but apparently it’s easier to learn than Spanish because there are only two different cogitations. They speak with the back of their throat. It was cool. We were sad to see him go, but we know that they are needed there and not here.

I can’t believe the ward kind of changed. It’s weird to think that, but if there is one thing that I have learned is the doctrine of sustaining your leaders! What is important to the stake president better be just as important to you as it is to him. So help welcome the new families and do all that you can to follow our leaders and more importantly the Lord Jesus Christ. This gospel is real. I know that for a fact. I know that when we feast upon the word of Christ, Learn, Understand and Apply his teachings we WILL find happiness. I know that there is no happiness outside of the Plan of Happiness. I am so grateful for that. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that we need to feed the fire of our faith and read it each day to continue to have a testimony. It needs to be a daily process. It needs to be something that you treat as sacred and MAKE time out of every day you have to study the scriptures. Feed the Flame of your Faith each day.

We are working with a man who is really prepared to receive the restored gospel. He is on date for the 26th of this month. We are hoping we can convince the apostle to come to his baptism later that day. How awesome would that be!! He is married to a member, she hasn’t been able to get to church in a while, but we are helping them come to church and get back into the gospel. So we are counting down to general conference. Its like super bowl Sunday for missionary work. We can’t wait and are preparing as much as we can to relieve instruction from the Lord’s chosen Servants.

I am so grateful for this gospel. I can see the blessings that come from living it faithfully. Keep true to the covenants we have made. I know that is where we truly receive our strength.
