Hello from Richland Washington,
We had a very spiritual week this week. We had zone conference this last week. It’s always such a blessing to be able to hear from President Ware. Each and every time he speaks I feel the spirit. I know that he truly is called of God and that he is called to this mission to help us progress the Lord’s work in this part of the vineyard. We had some awesome training about planning and how we need to awake and arouse our investigators to act in faith and keep commitments. I was actually asked to give that training. Elder Snow and I talked about the differences between how Satan works and how the Lord works. We referenced 2 Nephi 28: 21-32. This is how Satan works for us. Pay attention to the action words that are used in these scriptures. We talked about how Satan slowly leads everyone to be complacent and how we need to make sure this does not happen to our investigators. We then took them to Alma 32:27-28 and talked about what the restored gospel of Jesus Christ does for us. Pay attention the the action words that are used in these 2 verses. We talked about how we need to teach this message to everyone that we can because this is what will awake them. Elder Snow talked about what the real meaning of the word awake means. It means to bring back from an unconscious state. We then talked about how everyone born on this earth knows this message, they just can’t remember. We talked about how the message we share brings them out of that state of unawareness. It was powerful. Later on that day President asked if he could do a comp study with us and 4 other missionaries in the zone to help them overcome the concerns that they have been having the past few weeks.
What a blessing it was. We were able to talk for a long time about goal setting and things of that nature. We talked about how we have power when we raise our eye of faith. The spirit was so strong. I was so grateful that we were able to be invited to that meeting. President was able to help answer a lot of their questions and asked us to answer a lot as well which was hard at times, but the spirit guided us on things to say. Here is one thig that we felt impressed to speak about and something I have been thinking about these past few weeks. So this is one of those things that I always knew but didn’t know at the same time. So the sons of Mosiah were Ammon, Aaron, Omner and Himni. They were once so wicked and rebellious that they were trying to destroy the church. They then were later cried to repentance by and angel of God. They repented and had a mighty change of heart. They then all went on missions and converted thousands of people. I have thought about this even. They were so wicked that the were trying to destroy the church. Many missionaries I have run into think that because they have broken so many rules they have disqualified themselves from being productive in the work and things along that line. They feel like they have to face the consequence and the consequence is lack of success. They feel like they needed to be forgive but that it’s going to take time. What I learned is that no matter how far away you have gone, you can and will be forgiven and be able to keep moving forward helping in this work. I loving finding these things. Some of the best missionaries in the scriptures once tried to take down the church at one point in their life.
I have really grown to love the scriptures. I feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ each and every time I read them. I love going with a question in mind and finding the answer that the scriptures bring. I had a thought during the zone conference about this very topic. In 1 Nephi chapter 8 and 11 that it compares the word of God to be like a Rod of Iron. We learn that the word of God leads to eternal life. When we read them each day, ponder on them and apply what they teach we will really be lead to everlasting life. I love thinking about the promise in the scriptures. They are more real that I think at times. I have been learning a lot about that this last weekend. We had an amazing weekend this last week. We had as a mission 30 baptisms. Which brings us up to 50 I think for this transfer so far and we still have 2 weeks left in the transfer. We are looking at having 100 by the end of this transfer. We will see if we can do it. That would be amazing. We are so blessed.
So to answer a few more questions. When I get home I am going to study Finance or something along those lines. So now you can tell everyone what I am going to study. A little more detail about the moving to a different place. I have just felt impressed to do this because I need to meet new people and I feel the Lord needs me in a different place. I know this is going to put more stress on your life and so I hope I can help somehow. I am pretty sure that the place that Alison lived at before she got married added to the complex and is holding boys. Not sure if that is true. But maybe that is an option. If not I have a few more in mind that I can help you with this next Monday. I will think of some other places and see what we can do. I feel bad that I have to do this to you but I know this is what I need to do. I know I can probably get permission from President to get on during the week and help look for more if need be. I know Elder Paxman got permission to do that no problem. It sounds like the house is getting all changed up. That is good. So when is the move actually happening. I feel like I have no idea really what is going on. Don’t worry about bugging me for school. I have come to grips that its just time to deal with this and so I am ready for whatever questions you have to throw at me.
Love Elder Hansen WKM
This week we also got some pictures from the family Elder Hansen is living with. There are some from Christmas and some from Valentines Day.
